I'm finding extra time and catching up on blogging, as my high school course for Write At Home has ended. As a tutor, I've noticed that many families – including many of those who are homeschooling for the first time due to the pandemic – struggle with finding resources to keep the interest of reluctant, wiggly youngsters. For hands-on learners, here are some of our favorite math manipulative resources, which we’ve enjoyed over the years:
Ableside Online includes free Christian, Charlotte Mason style curriculum, and an emergency, disaster program.
Arithmophobia No More has free downloadable resources such as Cuisenaire Company founder Gattegno’s Handbook for Activities for Teaching Mathematics.
Bedtime Math shares free apps and games.
Dummies.com, covers dozens of subjects, including musical time signatures, and other concepts, which can be related to mathematics.
Funbrain includes a Math Zone with dozens of educational but addictive games.
Homeschool Math contains helpful information, such as using an abacus, free math worksheets, and online math games.
